Including Other Sites in my Google Custom Search Engine

If I want to include a site on my Google Custom Search Engine does that site also have to use a Custom Search Engine or will Google just use the pages it has listed in its index for that site?

It will pull from its index, the other sites do not need to be on CSE. I couldn’t find a link in the help center to verify that exactly, but this one comes pretty close.

Also, I should add that I have actually started to remove the other sites option from my Google CSE as I was finding that when I was doing simple searches on my own blog that I couldn’t find what I wanted. So really for my own benefit I removed the option and only search across my own site.
